Recipe - French 75 Cocktail
The famous French 75 was born out of battle not of bubbly, its name a tribute to a 75-millimeter artillery gun from World War 1. But more important, it was imagined as a toast to love and loss, and it sparked the imagination of weary post-war Europe. The drink inspired international experimentation among versions made with Calvados, Cognac, and finally Gin. The official accepted recipe is the one that appeared in Harry Craddock's The Savoy Cocktail Book, and has remained a standard of bars worldwide ever since.
